Cooling Fans

Asked by GuruL96R8 Mar 20, 2019 at 01:09 PM about the 1996 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anybody have an idea to why my cooling
fans wouldn't work, just bought this car but
the person before had just replaced the
alternator. Thinking that could be a reason
why, as well as a fuse or something. Any
help works, thanks.

Have you checked voltage and ground, anywhere? Any applicable trouble codes? With the engine running, if you turn on the ac, does the fan come on? Also your coolant temp sensor is involved. It might be possible to use jumper wires from battery, positive and negative, to fan, to see if fan will run. The diagram I looked at showed white wire with black tracer is ground, the other wire is voltage. If good voltage and ground and the fan won't run, suspect the fan motor.
