My brake pads, shoes, hydraulic system check out fine, but my braking capability is severely diminished.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Brake pads/shoes have plenty of "meat" left on them but vehicle is hard to stop. All calipers, etc. functioning optimally, hydraulic system flushed.

It may be a problem with the brake booster that the master cylinder is attached too. This is your power brake assist.

Check the amount of vacuum at hose that attaches to your brake booster. It needs to be at least 18 inches of vacuum.
