Positive battery connector

Asked by GuruVKJNT Sep 23, 2018 at 10:05 AM about the 1997 Toyota Camry CE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is the copper battery connector on red wire
suppose to be half moon shape or round? If
not connected properly, will auto have an
auto electrical shut down? Would alternator
at 14.2 amps have ripples during the shut
down?

14.2 volts or amps? If the connector is a full circle it will give a better connection. Perhaps the rest corroded away but you can install a new connector if you want.

Alternator read 14.2 volts, with excessive ripple, with battery drained. I think the battery drained because of poor connection and the alternator was keeping car running until the shut down. Not sure if the alternator has permanent damage.
