That is not good. I would take the cam to a good machinist and see what they say.
Well there is not much you can do since the hole for the thread is right next to the O.D. of the cam gear mounting surface. Some choices; you either take the chance of running it with 2 bolts, or take the cam out and have a machine shop weld it up and put new threads into it, or buy a new camshaft.
Or are you just talking the bolt and the treads in the cam are ok? Maybe just need to be chased with a tap? and put a new bolt in it? That is possible also. And I don't know what size it is,
A helicoil might be the solution. I would not drill it out on the car though as metal shavings would get into the engine.
I had some thoughts but you guys have it nailed all the way. Good work gents.
I wanna thank everyone. .it seems the bolt gets tight and then loses up..I was thinking the same thing. .helicoil...just don't feel like putting in a new cam just put in head gasket and don't feel like doing a nother project. Lol w advise everyone stats tomorrow. Need to take a xanax before I get crazy w this rice burner.. lol Thanks again to all
