How long do you have to wait to check the
codes to see what's wrong with a car? My
battery had died and because it was dead
for too long we couldn't check the codes to
see what the problem was . Please help me
!!

If the battery was disconnected....all codes will be erased. Try charging the battery ...or....properly jump starting the battery and see if any warning lights come on or flashing. Get back with results. USE CAUTION....when jump starting. Big..$$$$$$$$.......repairs could result if JS is done incorrectly.
The battery wasn't disconnected it was just dead so we ended up charging the battery . I'm just trying to see what's wrong with my car and why it won't run or anything. L
The diagnosis starts with reading stored codes in the various computers on this vehicle. Find a Auto Parts Store near your location who will read codes for FREE. Get back to us with results.
I have a code reader just don't know how to use it , but I just found out that it was a fuel related . The car has a new fuel pump but it's like the fuel or anything is getting into the system or something . Someone said it could be the computer but I hope it's not .
Ok...it sounds like you have a vehicle that Cranks over well.....like the battery and starter motor are good..but will not fire up...Start.. Is this correct?
The battery and stuff is good but it's acting like it can't get any fuel . We replaced the fuel pump and filter still no start .
Try this. Remove the air filter. While someone is cranking the engine over....spray a little carburetor cleaner down the intake of the throttle body. If...as you suspect you have a fuel delivery issue.....the engine should attempt to run with the CC. Get back with results.
Still nothing . How can you tell if a wire is broken or if it's just the computer?
