99 Toyota Camry stalls when I turn the key. It will not start unless I feed it gas for a long period of time
I have a 99 Camry and in its third year, it wouldn't start up without me feeding it gas. All the dealerships told me something different. After I replaced all the sensors and there was no change, I left it alone. It is now 17 years old and after hoses were replaced because it began to stall on right turns, getting it started is a challenge.(I also, recently replaced the starter) I feed it gas every time I start it, for long periods of time, I keep my foot on the gas at 2 RPM then gradually take my foot off the pedal. Other then this problem it has been a reliable car and has always started up. Diagnostics were done on it in the past and showed nothing. (I called the main office 14 years ago, they told me to take to a dealership.) I did not fall into the trap of replacing parts because I didn't think what was being told to me had any direct correlation with this problem. 17 years later, I only replaced a few parts, but for this reason I would hesitate to buy another Toyota, despite its dependability. I think the main office for Toyota should have given me some information on what was causing this problem.
