Don't run the engine with the oil light on. The oil pump could have failed and it will destroy the engine. Have a mechanic check the oil pressure with a gauge. It could be a bad oil pressure sending unit or the wire came off.

Most likely your engine is toast. Previous owner may have neglected to change the oil and the screen on the pickup tube could be clogged with sludge. If caught in early it may be possible to drop the oil pan and clean or replace the screen. Also recommend removing the valve cover and take a look for sludge. But if your car is stalling it is too late, is it making any knocking noises?

That's what you get for buying a POS 14 year old car from a Car Auction in the hood. Have fun taking the bus :)
