Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 4 cyl camry with 139k miles on it. It is noisy when I cruise at and
around 2k rpm no matter what speed. Is there any specific reason for this to
happen ? I am trying Lucas oil treatment but it is not working.

Is it a spark knock? Changing the plugs on the 6 cyl. is a real pain. There's the 3 way in the back by the fire wall that are really hard to get to. If you have never changed the plugs out, I would start by dong that. If you have the work done by someone else, remove one of the plugs yourself and check the brand. Tell the mechanic to save the old plugs for you. Make sure you have 6 of the same kind. Some of those guys only change out the 3 that are in the front and easy to get to. Then they leave the 3 in the rear and charge you for 6 new plugs. I'm guessing it's a spark issue because if it was something internal, it should do it more often than only at the 2k rpm mark. Post back with results....thanks.

If you rev the engine up to 2000 RPM in PARK/NEUTRAL...0MPH....will the Engine Make this noise? IF yes...one would next attempt to isolate the noise using an automotive diagnostic tool call a stethoscope. You must be very careful when using this tool...getting tangled up in.rotating engine parts could injure you.
