I bought the 2000 Toyota Camry LE brand new in 2000, do not drive alot by only having
less than 27,000 miles on it...I know it states to change timing belt around 90,000
miles...what is your opinion?

It's 90,000 miles or 72 months, 6 years, whatever comes first. So every 6 years regardless of mileage it should be replaced http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms/SMG100_MS0001/pdf/2000_Toyota_SMG_PDF.pdf
tennisshoes post was not there ..I was off looking at the scheduled maintenance when he posted. But I 100% agree, you don't say if you have the I4 or V6. The I4 is non-interference but the V6 is an an interference engine and if it breaks you are talking about big$$$$. Recommend replace it soon
I WOULD CHANGE THE TIMING BELT KIT, BECAUSE ITS OVER 6 YEARS , REPLACE NEW KIT WITH NEW COOLANT.

With the low mileage stated...I would be inclined to have the belt/chain inspected by a pro to determine wear.
