I have a 2000 camry with this no start/no click issue. After about 10 or so
minutes of turning the key it will start. After about 20 starts or about a week
or so it will happen again. This has been going on for months. Battery is
almost new and replaced positive terminal(twice) and no corrosion! Also
tightened the battery wire to the starter all to no avail. Any Ideas?? It had
261k miles and runs great except for this problem. thank you

Suggestion. Open the Hood and check the Fuse/Relay Box on the left/Driver side of the vehicle. Open the Cover and see if there is a START Relay indicated on the underside of the cover. Tap the relay with a medium sized tool the next time she will not Crank over. Might be the root cause of this issue. Get back to us with results.
thank you so much,,, I will try it next time it happens and get back to you
You might also carry a small hammer in the vehicle. If tapping the relay results in a no start...go to the starter motor a tap...tap...it and see if she will crank over.
it happened again yesterday so I tapped on the started relay,,,nothing , so I tapped on the starter and nothing but tapped on the starter a little harder and it started. So, what do you think? Thank you for taking time for me!
OK...normally.. we would conduct a series of Voltage Drop Tests to pinpoint the root cause of this issue. Absent that...my guess is you need to replace the Starter Motor. This repair should include a cleaning of Battery/ Starter Motor connections...and ..an Battery/Alternator /Charging System/Parasitic Draw Test. These tests verify the Battery is being fully charged by the Alt......and..there are no excessive drains on the battery. Find a repair Technician who is familiar with these procedures. Good Luck.
I can;t thank you enough for your advice and caring!. I will take your advice and keep you informed. I wish you Gods Best ! Greg
