Driver compartment gets very hot after driving for about 45 minutes or so

Engine temp gauge is normal but inside driver compartment (driver front seat area, especially near feet/legs) it is getting very hot.  I have to open the windows, even if driving at night.  Starts after about 45 minutes driving.  248,000 miles on the car so I replaced radiator, hoses and thermostat with new ones, and it still does this.  AC and heater are working.  Engine temp gauge shows normal.  Any ideas?  Heater control valve a possibility?

Thanks tennishoes, very helpful. I had the heater ducts and all related issues thoroughly checked out, and there were no problems there. I do think it is likely something to do with the shielding of exhaust/converter and will go in that direction. Tonight, after driving for an hour, it started to really radiate up through the floor/seat area and on the hump with the shifter. All of this was only on the driver's side though.

I just had my stock piping removed on my car and replaced with a stainless steel unit. This was yesterday, but the heat radiating through the floor behind the drivers seat really started getting warm tonight on my drive home. The passengers side front of the engine started making an is noise I've never heard before after the heat was there for a bit.
