I tried jumping it and it justs makes a cranking sound but it wont start....don't
know if it's the battery or the stater????

Put voltmeter on 20 V. Setting and touch battery positive with red lead and black with negative terminal. What is reading with car off? 12.4 volts or higher? If so, try to start car and see what voltage goes down to. Below 10 V and your battery needs replaced. Battery ever been dead? It is really unreliable after it has been dead because of possibly killing cell(s).
