Toyota Camry 2001 Overheats after a while in freeway
My toyota camry 2001 manual transmission 4 cylinder car is overheating.
I replaced the radiator, thermostat, flushed the entire system and added
brand new 50/50 coolant. Both radiator fans are working properly. I am
using the radiator cap that it came with.
The car will warm up as usual and will stay in the middle of the temperature
gauge for quite a while. Usually after 15-20 minutes of driving 80mph in the
freeway, it will start overheating. The gauge will start going up constantly
until it blows up probably. I have STOPPED the overheating by turning on
the heater to max strength. So I have been driving for the past 2 weeks
with my heater on at max on 90 degree weather... please help!
P.S. Before the overheating, the coolant reservoir kept bubbling like crazy
after using the car every time. I heard the head gasket may be cracked or
whatever so I put "Head Gasket Fix" liquid in the radiator to seal the cracks
in the head gasket. After this is when it started overheating to the point that
the radiator gave out. (No more bubbling though!)
You had exhaust in coolant and the fix in a bottle is a joke, they do not work, one reason is they do not tell you how to do it correctly if it has liquid glass in it then it has to cure at least 24 hours or more depending on temp out side with all coolant drained (air dried), The cylinder closest the gasket leak is pumping exhaust into a coolant passageway. It should of been located (compression test) then pull that plug wire off either while running or if it will crank without it on then pull that plug wire off before cranking all while without a thermostat and into top hose just before cranking it to add Sodium Silicate (Liquid Glass) Pharma Grade Na40 (buy Online only) then reattach (engine has to be cold before adding liquid glass) in a step by step procedure to work correctly which I but can lead you to a page explaining it. The junk in the stores does not work and clogs up your coolant passageways, the only option is to pull head for a new gasket and surface flat tested & pressure tested & clean out all coolant passageways before install.
Thanks for the reply. I had no idea. Thank for you all the information. I do not have the money to do work on the head gasket. Sincce the bubbling stopped, I believed it has fixed any cracks or whatnot. But are you saying this cause further damage or it didn't fix it at all? Is the overheating from a bad head gasket still you think?
That it is still leaking and/or its clogged up, did you remove thermostat or put in a new on after adding the product, Do you remember the name of the head gasket fix?

The car only overheats after a while in the freeway and I usually drive 80mph but when i drive slower it seems to either not overheat or last longer before it overheats.
May not hurt to do a coolant flush.
I already did a full flush with water. Everything seems nice and clean. I may add that before the Head Gasket fix fluid, i kept noticing engine oil specs. Now there is none and again, no bubbling. What else could be clogged making the engine overheat?
I would do a test for exhaust in coolant test called block test, you're testing to see if combustion gases leaked by a blown gasket/cracked head/block and have entered the coolant passages. Byproduct of burning hydrocarbons is mostly H20 and CO2. The CO2 makes the fluid acidic (changes the ph) and that causes the color change. Your need the tester and the tester fluid, it is sold separately.

Hi just bought a 2001 Camry 2.2l and has radiator hoses thermostat fans all new from previous owners and still overheat I solved my problem burping the cooling sistem for almost an hour. All it had was air on the sistem
