Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Toyota Camry and about 4
months ago I was driving on the freeway and
my timing belt snapped so the car wouldn't
drive anymore..I fixed the timing belt and
after that my car struggles to go uphill,it revs
but has no power going uphill ,it moves like
a semi truck on a hill but when it gets to a
flat surface it speeds up from all the force I
put on the gas pedal..to make matters worse
there is no check engine light to run a
diagnostic..it's frustrating me and I would
need some help figuring it out..a mechanic
told me a valve might have been broken
when the timing belt snapped but wasnt
sure..please help

If it had a bent valve the motor would be missing like it had a missing spark plug. I think the timing is off and he should check the timing belt again to make sure the timing marks are set correctly and also if a mechanic tells you that a valve may have been broken but he is not sure I would get another mechanic because he should know if he was any kind of a mechanic.

Yes I asked if he fixed the timing belt correctly he said yes and since he wasn't sure I should find a place for a system check to be sure..so it can't be tune up issues also? Thanks for your help I will check with another mechanic

First of all recheck the timing belt to make sure if it is in the correct order and if the belt is in correct order then check the injector cable ,start the engine and then remove the injector cables one by one ,if one of the cable is not working you will know and if the cable is not working put it on the other injector and if the cable is working on the other injector then you might have a broken injector,to make sure if the injector is not broken and is working remove the injector and change it to other position of the working injector and if the injector is working on the other position then you have a problem with a valve or you have to replace the head gasket it might be broken.

Do a compression test for each cylinder. That will let you know if something is wrong. You may have a plugged cat also. The symptoms you describe are dead on for a plugged cat converter.
