if it is indeed a timing CHAIN, there is no service required. a timing chain is made to live through the life of the vehicule. yet there will have wear over the years, and eventually you may start to hear it. if the noise gets excessive, you can change it, but must also change the sprockets, to have a nice "tight" fit, in order to eliminate the noise

2002 Camry with 4cyl VVTI has chain. I made the conscious decision to purchase a 4cyl specifically for this reason. Drove it until 2010 and it had 225,000 miles with zero problems. Currently have 2007 4cyl with VVTI and chain. 186,000 miles. Zero problems. Toyota dealer said it was the VVTI engines.

Camry All Camrys from 1990 to 2001 and V6s from 1990 to 2006 have belts which should be replaced every 60k miles. 4-cylinder Camrys built from 2002 on – and V6s from 1990 on – have chains.

They have trimming chains for sure in 2003. Just had mine replaced after 250,000 miles just to keep it another three years at least.

My 03 Camry has 307,000 miles and the chain broke due to an oil leak that put stress on the chain I’m a lil upset but not mad. It’s my fault for not checking the oil more frequently. Got her in the shop now to fix her back up. That’s the best car I ever had. Would swap her out for nothing. Good luck

Does a 2006 Vito 2.4 Camry have a chain or belt for a timing belt

My 2002 Camry 4 cyl has a chain as mentioned above. I was surprised to learn that there is no expected change in time or maintenance. If your chain gets noisy you may get a new timing chain or sprocket but all you might have to do is adjust the tension on the chain tensioner.
