Dealer says cost is $850 labor, $2 - $300 parts...
It is making a low level clicking noise .. does this need to be serviced? I have put 130 miles on it since noise started. Dealer says no hurry put within 1000 miles have work done.
What is likely truth?
Car has 180,000 mostly highway miles...

4 Cylinder or V6? Reason I ask the V6 has a timing belt
All things considered, I recommend that you find an independent garage or mechanic to do the work. Labor should be half of the dealership. As for parts google Advanced Auto Parts coupons. You'll save a lot. Or you can drive it on till the tensioner brakes.
You can but the entire chain... tensioner... and everything for $154 form http://www.dashzracing.com/01-08-Toyota-Camry-2-4-Dohc-16V-1Azfe-2Azfe-Timing-Chain-Kit.html so that figure is double for parts
Is there any doubt why they are called " Stealerships?"
