2002 Camry 150K transmission service; what should it cost? Last time at 118K+, dealer charged me $1,700! That seems like quite a bit. Thank you Guys.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Last transmission regular maintenance on 2002 Camry was early; just over 118K. Dealer charged me $1,700. That seems a bit steep; for owners manual recommended 30K trans. service interval. Now at 147K with next trans. service due very shortly. Is that about right price? The engine is 24 valve OHC V6. Thank you.

So Tom; as I’m the sole second owner; whom took over ownership at about 96K; I assume that the original owner did not go by the recommended Toyota service schedule at all? Would that be a fair assessment? Thank you for your time and insight.
That $1700 service sounds like a rebuild. If the tyranny fluid looks and smells ok...I would just let her go for now until a problem surfaces. Do you still have the bill and paperwork from that last...service? It would be interesting to see the PARTS and labor charges. Typical rebuild labor time is about 8 to 10 hours for a rebuild. Check your bill.
Just wanted to tell you that I am not looking for a new car any longer, bought a Camary yesterday 19 miles from my home so it was a blessings. Thank you for the ones you presented to me to look at. Remove my name from searching now, and thank you for your help. Diane Moran dbmoran0@suddenlink.net
