I am struggling with reading the oil check stick.My mechanic told me to check it everywant to put too much oil in.month and I don't a

It depends on engine size. If you are just adding oil to get to the full mark, just keep slowly adding oil until it reaches the FULL mark on the stick. If the oil has just been changed, it may be too clear and you will have trouble seeing it. If you need to change your oil, take the owners manual and go to the "specifications" section. There it should tell you how many quarts your engine holds.
