Speedometer not working

IF...the auto transmission is shifting properly...I suspect the Speedo Cluster is bad. Have you checked the computers on this vehicle for stored codes? Some auto parts store will check for Codes for Free?
I drove my car for a few hours with no problems. The speedometer is on 0,looked up the part on the Internet, there is a small plastic gear at the end of the shaft that fits in the speed sensor, that is probably worn out, so beware of cheap quality replacement parts. If the gear is made of cheap material it will wear out fast.
I agree...the above could be the cause of this issue. However....this failure usually sets a code in the Computer and turns on a warning light on the Dash/Cluster. Does this vehicle have an Automatic Transmission?
Ok....and the Transmission is shifting properly when you drive down the road?
Another picture. I hope this one is ok to use
35s9...did you ever resolve the issue with this vehicle?
Changed the speed sensor located below the air filter, it wasn't the problem,am going to replace the one further back on the transmission, it can be reached from the bottom and depending on the source can cost and arm and a leg
Some auto parts stores will check your computer for stored codes. Suggest you price out that second speed sensor...and...ask if they will do a Scan for free.
Got a used speed sensor and installed it.had to use the old gear shaft due to different length. It now works fine, so far.
Guru35S9 Is it still working fine?? I have exact problem with 03 Camry, and have changed the transmission speed sensor. Only worked for a little and speed/odometer/cruise control are all out again.
So...here we go again. Any warning lights on or flashing when the engine is running? Any chance getting the computers scanned for codes?
When the speedo malfunctions does the Odometer...the mileage indicator still work?
Also...you might consider rechecking the speed sensor. See if the gear on it is damaged.
2004 Camry with 280k miles. Same issue. Stopped overnight on a long road trip; the next morning I had no speedometer, no cruise control, and a non-changing odometer. Changed the speed sensor because that’s the code and part that AutoZone’s code reader showed. No change.
Also, the check engine light is on, and the rpm gauge works. This may not be related, but the same morning my vehicle began shuttering violently around 60 mph, almost like I need a front end alignment. I had driven several hundred miles the previous day with no problems. Could the issues be related in any way, or just a coincidence?
Any other codes along side the SS code? Is the abs light on when the engine is running?
From where I sit....you may have a bad speedo cluster. We usually test the speedo cluster with a signal generator. We test the speed sensors with a Digital Volt Meter There may be 2 speed sensors on this vehicle. Which one was replaced?. The ABS/Skid Control Module could also be the cause of this issue .Suggest a rescan of all computers for additional codes. Write down the code numbers and descriptions. Get back with results.
Scottfox......did you ever resolve the issue with this vehicle?
