Asked by Silicato Dec 19, 2015 at 01:27 AM about the 2004 Toyota Camry SE V6 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This problem  started yesterday afternoon, stopped at a set of lights and then took off, it slowly accelerated and i reached my desired speed while the rev limit was fluctuting from 2000rpm to 6000rpm.
Stopped at Next set of lights and ready to take off the car was at a standstill while i was pressing the accelerator pedal.
I then switched the car off for a minute and restarted  and took off as normal but it only lasted for a few minutes. It kept doing this until i got home.
Earlier in the day i filled the car with the recommend petrol.
A friend said to me i may have a bad batch of petrol.
Could this be the problem?

If check engine light is on, have codes scanned. Autozone is a good place to have that done. You may have a bad TPS (throttle position sensor) or a bad peddle sensor. If no check engine light, I doubt you got bad gas. Since you shut it down and it returned to normal, it seems like more of bad sensor or electrical issue. Check your ECT fuse and your RAD fuse under the hood. If those are blown it will cause a poor acceleration issue.

Hi Reelin, Thanks for answering..Check engine light is off. I will check the fuses. Yes I'm thinking that too maybe a bad sensor. Thanks!
