I have a 99 solara, its a 4cylinder. with 177 thousand on it. I took a trip to Colo from Arkansas. On the way to Colo, I stayed at a motel in Kansas. In the morning when I left motel I stopped at a stop sign and the car sputtered and sputtered and engine stopped, I got it started and finally I was on the road. It smoothed out on the highway. I went to a gas station and filled it up. I believe it was bad gas I got in Missouri on the way to Kansas. I never had any trouble the rest of the trip with the sputtering. Get a tuneup and see if that doesn't help. I have two solaras, the other one is a 2003 . Both are 4 cylinders. I buy nothing but Toyotas or Hondas. There is nothing wrong with your engine. Hope this analysis helps. You have low miles on it, that's very low miles for a 99.
