What could be making my 1992 toyota celica overheat
Asked by Bmath Nov 22, 2015 at 10:49 AM about the 1992 Toyota Celica GT Coupe FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
It overheated recently. Lost most of
its fluid. Steamed off didn't spill out. I
took off upper radiator hose and had
no flow. I put new thermostat in, no
change. I flushed radiator no
obstruction. I just took off the water
pump and it seems to be working fine.
What else should I check? Thanks
much.

Is your radiator dirty internally? I also suspect that you may have a blown head gasket - check for oil in the radiator and water in the engine oil. You also may need a new radiator cap. If your car has an electric fan make sure it is working properly.
Thanks for your help. It was the head gasket and the water ports in the head were cloged up with sediment. Thanks again
I'm having very similar problems with mine and just actually asked a question about this related issue. But if there's no cracks in ur radiator and ur hoses are fine, most likely since you've pretty much covered all other bases, my guess would be ur water pump. Wish I had more helpful advice but that seems to be the issue with most of us having an overheating problem. Keep me updated on what happens. I'm ordering my pump tonight and would be more then happy to let u know my results
