Did i blowup my motor (

Asked by Lauren May 24, 2019 at 05:00 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 05 cobalt has no compression, I
couldn't even drive it up into the ramps
to work on it. It started being really
loud and struggling to get power when
you first took off down the road. Ran a
compression test, 3rd cylinder was
slightly lower than the others at
150/180. Just took a scan of it and its
saying the 02 sensor is bad along with
multiple misfires, and cooling fan not
running. When I opened up the hood I
was concerned how much everything
is coated in oil and what the bigger
issue might be to need these fixed.
Any ideas or advice is much
appreciated!

Agree, its time for a new car. If its not a head gasket, its likely a failed timing chain. If its that then there's likely internal engine damage. In any event, its an old car that's not worth spending a bunch of money on. Have it hauled away and go shopping.
