Toyota Celica Gt

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 toyota celica GT which has two belts to it, one that runs to
the alternator, power steering (i think) and an Idler pulley.  I replaced the
belt thinking that it was the source of the squeaking, (the belt was starting
to crack a bit) But then i realized that there was a second belt that was also
squeaking. I have no idea what this belt is for, (water pump?) I reached
down and pressed on it and it's loose af. If it helps the squeaking will
stop/start when i turn on the AC, TL;DR What is the second belt deeper
within my toyota celica gt and can I/ how can I tighten it.

SOUND LIKE THE AC BELT IS GLAZED..REPLACE IT.... PUT >1999 TOYOTA CELICA GT FAN BELTS < IN YOUR SEARCH ENGINE AND YOUTUBE FOR THE EASY INFO

Just replace it as it is not optional and look for the method of tensioning. Sometimes there is an adjustable idler wheel or you may have to adjust the position of an accessory like the alternator.

Auto tensioner idler, need to rotate it then jam it and hold like that with a pin....fit the belt then release the pin.....check the idlers tensioner, age of car....the beatings might become dry with high milage causing sqweeking, some you can force grease into, others are sealed, limited life span, replace them....more cost but hey it is what it is.
