I have a 2000 Toyota Celica gts. My oil cap went missing somehow and now it wont turn over

Did you bother to check the oil level? Anything in the engine?

Also my spark plugs got drenched in oil

barely any oil was left in the engine

Put the correct amount of oil in it and hope it turns over but if you ran it out of oil you may be due for a new engine.

i just Bought a new cap for it and put oil in it but still nothing

Just clean the excess oil off so you not smoking or burning oil from hot engine when it cranked back up. I would use the crank wrench and breaker bar to confirm it has not locked up. If it was dry and hot when parked it could off seized up, and the turning it by hand will confirm and it would not hurt to put some light oil in the spark plug holes first for a few days, Lubegard I think was the brand name makes some good oil for this but any good product like CRC will or may work if its seized because of this and has not broken anything. If it turns then you know that is not it. Before doing that I would make sure there is not any blown fuses or bad connections. How many quarts did it take to refill it up?

its filled back up with 4 Quarts of oil. 5w30

Sorry but the oil cap must not have been on very good. My brother had a oil leak problem that he thought he would try to drive home anyway and made it while it was leaking about 3 miles before it locked up. It was a Olds and Toyota is more balanced and blueprinted in the design but 8 miles may have been enough.

Well to back up a bit, make certain the battery & battery connections are good and if needed pull the starter to test along with the battery, its alot to do but it may be a coincidence that it lost oil cap. I would not throw in the towel. Its worth fixing this car, and I would not say that about all Celicas even if engine is seized.

so i removed all my ignition wires to clean them and i noticed that oil has managed to reach 2 of the 4 sparkplugs at the bottom, any suggestions on how to clean in there? new sparkplugs?

If they are (plugs) still installed Use some throttle body cleaner or carb/brake cleaner that dries up after using. It may leave some residue behind but will not be sitting there wet. May can use a strip of a rag to get wipe around it a little bit.

when i try to turn the car, should i hear the starter? because at the moment nothing is making any noise

After its dry can pull plugs out and spray again and use a cloth that does not have threads loose that could fall inside but use to wipe the residue off/out and while out clean off the exterior plug surface. The product I was talking about is LUBEGARD for seized/frozen engine cylinders and other mechanisms. I have tried to put the name in here 3 times and because it has one word in it the site will not take it but the rest word is 2 e's where the two 3's are. LUBEGARD® FR33-EZE

I would think the starter should ping or click or something and stop if its seized or even if battery is low. May should test the starter and try turn engine over by hand too. Check your main circuit breakers under the hood's electrical box (black Box).

enginecreator thank you so mush for all your help, i will have to try that lubegard tomorrow when the shops open. i appreciate all the help. ill post on here to let you know how it goes tomorrow

Normally if I was ask about this without the oil lost issue I would think if battery and stater/starter solenoid and those connections are good that the Clutch Pedal Position / Starter Safety Switch or Ignition Starter Relay could be bad but I guess it could be. First I would confirm the engine is not seized. Then confirm Battery is good & all fuses/relays and connections too including grounds to frame, then starter/solenoid and connections. Then on to the other items.

Now some shops do not carry full line of Lubegard and may not have it in-stock so call before hand to confirm before driving all over. Its for sale in most on-line shops. Like Amazon ect.

in the case that the engine did seize, what would i have to do then

Rebuild the engine or replace it.

If your check engine light came on while this was happening then reset the computer too and may be worth a shot anyway, just in-case it shut down the car to protect it and there may be a fuse there too but if its bad I do not think it would keep it from turning over but just throwing that out here for info sake.

Yep, if it will not come loose or toasted the main bearings.

which fuses should i check. i believe its a fuse thats bad and i dont have a meter to check them

I would just pull them all and look at them they are see threw and if its burnt you can see it, the metal will be broken. All fuses under dash and hood. But fuses will not stop it from cranking over,mains will stop it from cranking but not turning over or most anyway (circuit breakers) Yes same deal but are bigger and under hood. The starter solenoid or relay will though, but let me say its been a week or so and I will have to refresh myself on this issue again.
