what secondary reason is there for coils to misfire?

Asked by anyadema Jun 02, 2015 at 06:16 PM about the 2002 Toyota Celica GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Toyota Celica and i have changed all four ignition coils and i have already
changed my valve cover gasket and my check engine light is still on and not only that i
have ran the codes and it states that all four of my ignition coils are misfiring. I was
recommend to change my valve cover gasket asap but i have already done that, so my
question is what else can the cause be for my ignition coils to misfire?

Replacing all coils isn't a solution to random misfires on all cylinders. Your valve cover has even less to do with it. Suspect are the spark plugs, cam sensor, cranks sensor, mass air flow, or a fuel pressure problem. Start with the plugs if you haven't yet

I take the valve cover thing back, if oil is getting into the tube the plugs go into it can cause a misfire

I got a new valve cover gasket and new spark plugs. The spark plugs were really bad. I also had my ignition coils cleaned from the oil and it is running better I only have one code showing at the moment. The catalytic converter needs to be changed now and then I'm golden. Thank you so much for your help!
