Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I had the gas tank replaced in Ca. and now I live in Az. so its not a simple matter to take it back to the repair shop I smell gas and i'm pretty sure its leaking from the top of the gas tank I know its not the gas cap because I replaced that with a cap from the Toyota dealership after the car sits the smell goes away so it must be from the fuel pump hose coming out of the tank

On 1993-97 models, the fuel pump can be accessed by removing the rear seat cushion and service hole cover.

Being a newer model and it being under the rear seat its most likely that the fuel pump was installed incorrectly. Pull the seat and access cap out and inspect the fuel pump and see if theres fuel around it. If so then you can remove it and check the way its installed and the gasket. If you dont know how to do so go on YouTube and find a fuel pump installation video for your year make and model. It should be simple for the most part. Hope this helps.

A man once told me "the true definition of a professional is the guy who shows up to do a job with a power point presentation not knowing what the hells going on". It shouldnt take you no more than 30- 45 min to pull and install and check everything.
How do I sifen the gas out of the car Toyota Corolla 2001
Make sure you have a fuel pump spanner wrench before you do it, you can find one on Amazon for $15. It is well worth the money and will make this job about 3000% faster than if you do it without it.
