1993 Toyota corolla Vehicle turns on, put it in gear, turns off. What do I do?

Asked by ChefBella Jul 03, 2015 at 01:38 PM about the 1993 Toyota Corolla DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just finished replacing the valve cover
gasket, spark plugs and wires. Pcv valve
broke as I put it in. Put a new hose to the
right side of the engine ( idk what it called
or what its for). I'm out of ideas. Please
help?

The DX will be the 1.8L 7A FE engine. We need to know more, especially about this hose. A PCV hose is big, compared to other vacuum hoses, 7/16 or even ½ ID. Most vacuum hoses are smaller, pencil size or smaller. Could not fit a pencil inside. Which do you mean? And the PCV on the valve cover...right? Any way you can post a picture? Does it idle smoothly or rough...then just quits when you put in gear? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the '93 DX only offered a 5-speed manual trans.. and are you sure about PCV valve? That does not break easily.
