Corolla won't start, just beeps

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

To start our 96 corolla we need to have the clutch fully depressed and flick
the brights, then it will start. If you don't do this the horn beeps and it won't
start. This morning it won't start no matter what we do. We follow the usual
routine but it just beeps and nothings happens.

I disconnected the battery and left it for about 1/2 an hour hoping it might
reset something but no luck.

Any suggestions on why it may not start?

Found the solution. Discovered one of my neighbors down the street is a retired master mechanic. Apparently some dealers added a box on the passenger side firewall as a money making thing that had this functionality and mine has gone bad. There is a switch on top the we used to turn it off and the car starts again. :) I have attached a photo showing the box and the switch.
