My windshield washer pump doesn't work all the time.

On a nearly 20 year old car wires begin to deteriorate. It could be the connection to the pump or ground, or the multi-function stalk. Yes, it's definitely an electrical problem, when it works it gets good flow so it's not like the nozzles are plugged or fluid hoses broken/disconnected. Or pump bad. Problem is, the pump is not all that easy to get to, to check the connection(s). It's a bit down deep on bottom of tank. But if you can find the connection to the pump it does have a detachable connector that may have corrosion or just plain loose. It's either that or the stalk, which would be the second possible culprit.
what if i just replace the stem? How easy is that? Cost?
Unfortunately it's not easy. You have to remove steering wheel, and on that particular car the assembly is one part, about $200, and a lot of time-consuming work. sorry I wish I had better news. It comes like this
