Tail light sensor not working. How do you repair?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2002 Toyota Corolla and I think the sensor on the dashboard is no longer
working and I need to know to repair/replace. At night the tail lights used to come on
automatically now they don't.

That might not be the "eye" it could be the headlight module behind the glovebox that controls DRL Daytime running lights, auto dusk sensor (what you are referring to) To test, in daylight, cover the 'eye' up near the windshield, top of dash drivers side. Cover well. Sometimes it takes 60 to 90 seconds but if the headlights and tail/running lights come on. But do the tail lights come on when you switch them on at the stalk?
Thank you for responding. I have covered the auto dusk sensor completely, no change. I have also tried to switch them on from the stalk. Nothing.
Now I need to know if your dash/instrument cluster lights work, and click on these
Ah, perfect! You are the man! It was the tail light fuse behind the little storage compartment. Had no idea there were fuses back there. Works now. Thank you!
Glad you got it. And thanks for the 'best answer' click, that is a big compliment
