the brake lights on my 2002 Toyota corolla stays on even when the car is turned off. is there a relay somewhere that is stuck and if so how do I fix it.

is the adjust outta whack ? can you lift the pedal and cure it temporary? the way those were, that I was used to, was the switch could be made to thread in closer to the relaxed pedal, that would press its plunger turning them off. but inspect yours or find the correct circuit schematic if thats not the case. car companies can make small changes half yearly, even, sometimes. autodatabase is free at the library for a correct schematic when they get hard to find on the internet.
others had a pedal application height that was adjustable with 2, 12mm wrenches. you have to see what your configuration is.
Dannyl is correct, it's a simple button switch. It's not directly under the pedal, but to the left and vertical, there is a piece that connects to pedal arm, stick out to left and pushes button...and is adjustable. Has a lock nut on both sides of thin steel piece. Can't find an image, but if one of the nuts has come loose can very well be the culprit.
