The ECU does need to re-learn when battery is changed, but won't cause a no-start. When I put a new battery in My Corolla it started, then ran like crap for about 20 miles, then all is well. Could be starter or started solenoid. Or alternator if it ever ran at all after new battery. But one thing..after a battery change you must use the master key. No copied keys, even if they were programmed and worked before That key has a small dimple on the key blade. If your key does not have this as shown, try another key (will go full screen)
The immobilizer, anti-theft will prevent it from starting, but will not stop it from cranking over. The anti-theft does two things, disables ignition (the coils , not the ignition switch) and shuts off fuel. But with key out, is the little red LED flashing? Then when you insert key should go off. You don't even have to turn it, just stick it in and that red LED should go off

after the new battery was installed, it had samelights as before and still wont even turn over. I have lights, seat belt dings, etc just wont start. I was told the emissions didnt completely reset factory code, and needs to be coded... THAT is what I am asking, of if anyone from Toyota knows why it wont start. Obviously it was not he battery, as old batery was good when tested. But changed anyway since alread in and old battery was bought in 2010. This is a mess... ]
