93 Toyota Previa van wont start

Asked by Katlin Apr 23, 2017 at 06:37 PM about the 1993 Toyota Previa 3 Dr LE Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 93 toyota previa van last Friday it started
right up when i bought it. I left it sitting till monday
when the new brake line came in for it. The
previous owner had disconnected the battery to
charge it before i drove it home. (Note: i knew the
alternator needed replaced already thats in the
works.) We reconnected the battery and now my
van wont start. Its trying to turn over but wont start
up. The battery light is on now. Also my radio
interior lights or none of that would work either.
Does anybody have any idea what's going on? Gas
was put in it by the way about $15 dollars worth.

Dead battery (have it tested), Bad or loose Battery terminals and/or wires (tighten/clean/replace), Bad alternator (as mentioned may be a short, replace it), Bad ground wires (check/replace grounds from engine block to frame and others if needed). Jump it off with a jumper box or known good battery. Check your fuses (under dash & hood). If battery is too weak to hold a charge, replace it too along with the alternator. Since alternator is known to be bad this alone can stop it from cranking on its own, jump it off to confirm.
