Loss of power

Asked by Anakae Sep 26, 2016 at 08:42 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox that has been having
continuous problems now. First, it was leaking
coolant fluid, which we fixed. Then while I was
driving on the freeway it started to overheat. The
check engine light came on & it started to lose
power. I couldn't go over 40 mph. At this point I
pulled over & waited about 10 minutes before I took
off again. Once I started the car back up, the check
engine light was off & the car ran normally again.
This happens on & off & at random but most
commonly at high speed. Anyone know what it
could be?

I think it is a heating issue, may be water pump or bad thermostat, being it is continuing to run hot, have it checked before you damage to the engine.
