'08 Equinox overheating, loss of power

Asked by Kacey Dec 07, 2018 at 10:44 AM about the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced my t-stat and had it bled 2 mo ago; now
it's telling me over heat,  loss of power and check
engine oil and lots of white smoke... saw fluid on
the ground where I had to pull over... the oil is back
in the reserve but the a/f that had been refilled
after the initial loss is gone... my engine was
making a knocking noise...I just turned 99,959
miles... any ideas as I'm having a hard time finding
info...

It's hard to explain... it was freezing rain the day this happened so the ground was wet but seeing it a couple of days later, it was sunny, you could tell where the fluid drained out... it just looked dark...?? Not sure that helps... I've been hearing opinions that it could be a blown head gasket or engine even! Not driving it but towing it 7 hrs back home to my mechanic... thanks for your thoughts....
