Temperature Gauge

Well it all started with the passenger side
blowing cold air when the heater is on. The
temperature gauges started going up an
down. I have replaced thermostat, water
pump, as well as fixed heat. Also replaced
serpentine belt because it needed it.
Question is: Why is my temperature gauge
going up an down? I looked under the hood
an the the hoses r collapsing. 3 years ago I
had the heads done. I feel as if this car is
possessed. Any ideas. Please help.

When refilling the cooling system did you purge the air out? And on some cars there is a check valve to help control coolant flow. I will look and get back to let you know if there is one or not.
Ok I saw no check valves for that one. Do the fans work?

Yes both work. My Dad replaces thermostat first, then water pump an purged the system. The heater started acting up first, so I fixed it. Then when the temperature gauge started my dad replaced thermostat, an water pump. But notice that both hoses are collapsed after all this was replaced.

This is a 2005 Chevy Impala. I know the car is older with over 200,000 miles. But seems like these cars r problematic. I will not be buying another.
In my 2003 impala with the 3.4 liter engine,I was also experiencing a collapsed radiator hose.... I found the small rubber hose connected near the water pump and going to the coolant bypass pipe had a tiny pin hole causing a hissing sound when hot and loss of coolant pressure, coolant, and overheating. The coolant bypass pipe (metal) may also be rusted and have a hole as seen with another guy on the internet.
i was also told that engine was designed to run hot if to cool the milage would get crappy I think I heard the gauge would run around 3/4 of the way up towards the hot end 2003 3.4 L V6
