2005 Toyota Sequioa speedometer malfunction

Just bought a used 2005 toyota sequioa on 11/24.
The speedometer stopped working on the
following Tuesday then started intermittently
working Wednesday.  No other things were working
improperly and no check engine lights came on.  
My husband researched it and thought it might be
a bad vehicle speed sensor.  He switched it out
earlier and now the check engine light is on and its
throwing a code for a bad VSS now when it wasnt
before he switched it out.  Any ideas of what might
be wrong?

Did you buy a Toyota VSS? Look at your connections and clean them up from corrosion. You may need to test for Signal and power on this pigtail. Use dielectric grease

No bought an import direct replacement part. He cleaned out the corrosion and plastic gear wheel.

I work on a lot of Toyotas and they are sensitive to having Toyota parts. Check wiring first then if it checks out, buy a Toyota VSS. Find part number and buy online. You will save a lot of money and have exact part
