Do you have a time delay switch on the dash? When you do your monthly dash cleaning you may accidentally move the switch. It should be a small twist knob near or under your headlight adjustment switch. If you do not, your correct in assuming it may be a relay switch.

There should be two contact switches on the drive's side door about half way down from the window to toe bottom of the door. It is on the wrap-arond section of the door. These switches should shut off the electronic devices. Not is a turn off switch, the other is a switch to turn on the exit lighting. Make sure both are freely moving. If they are moving, and nothing still helps, it may be the switch itself. The dash switches are on the bottom of the dash on the left side facing the driver. They are near the steering wheel. If you have an owner's manual, it will show where they are and how to adjust them.

I pulled the radio fuse (15A) in the under the hood fuse box and it fixed it. Apparently the radio fuse is somehow interconnected to everything. I replaced the fuse and everything works again. 1.)Symptoms I had were as follows: 2.)Overhead A/C inoperative 3.)Dome lights wouldnt turn on when door was ajar. 4.)Radio wouldn't shut off after removing key from ignition and opening door. 5.) All speakers wouldn't put any sound out 6.) Door window buttons in the front were unable to move window up or down . 7.) Door lock buttons wouldn't lock or unlock vehicle 8.) Remote lock unlock feature inoperative. Hope this helps, I found nothing on the web for solutions pertaining to the exact solution so I just got lucky and wanted to share the knowledge

This happened with my daughter's 08 Mustang (V6) recently. There were other things happening as well. In all the radio and dashboard light stayed on, and the remote wouldn't open the the trunk or activate the panic alarm. The radio and dashboard light drained the battery, so I had to replace it. When I ran a diagnostic, no codes were reported, so I shut off the ignition, removed the key, and went to unplug the OBD2 meter. That's when the radio and dash light went off. Actually, the dash light blink on and off a couple of times. I realized that it was a wiring issue somewhere in the area of the OBD2 plug, and wiggling the plug temporarily fixed the issue. Playing with the plug temporarily fixed the issue. I plan to remove the panels and try to secure the wires better. Also, an overflow of condensation or rain water in drain ports could be shorting out the wires, so I will check those as well.
