The top on my 2005 ssr won't cycle

I have a 2005 chevy ssr and when i try to let my top down i get a message that says the cargo cover is ajar. Why would i get this message if the cargo cover is closed and latched.

Thanks tennisshoes for your suggestion on what might be causing ,my problem with my ssr's top not working. Do you know how maybe i can test the latch light switch to see if it's working right or not. i've got to find it first though but i'll just look for something that has wires running to it that looks like it's part of the latch assembly. I've got a place to start looking anyway, again thanks a lot.
