speedometer

Asked by graydog Nov 10, 2010 at 12:44 PM about the 1997 Toyota T100 2 Dr DX Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

intermittent noise from speedometer increasing in volume and pitch with RPM's.  My book doesn't show a speedometer cable, but talks about a velocity sensor. Any ideas?

I would look for a pneumatic hose on this one. It's probably dry rotted and leaking. My truck does the exact same thing, but only in the winter when the temperature gets down into the 20's i.e. cold = contracted and dry. Haven't looked at mine yet, as soon as it it warms up it's gone. Will fix, but low priority right now. Good luck.
