My motor went out and I was told that my crankshaft was broken. Is it better to get it
fixed or get a new motor? If a new motor, where can I search to buy another motor

How do you know the crankshaft is broken? Has it had the pan dropped to SEE? tennisshoes is on to something, I have never ever heard of a crankshaft just breaking in a Toyota. Even over reving something else is gonna give
Thanks for the response. I was told that the crankshaft was broken. I left someone drive the truck and he said that is what his mechanic told him and recommended I just get another motor. The truck has 170000 miles on it.
Please allow me to ask..what does it sound like? I doubt it would even run....And as for rebuilt engines, what engine is it? Drop the oil pan and take a look.
I agree tennisshoes. I am having real trouble with a crank just breaking. Now a rod..yep.
When trying to crank it the motor would turn over slowly. I will have to get the oil pan dropped.
I'd call around the salvage yards and find one with reasonable miles on it. When my wife's engine blew up, the Jeep dealer quoted almost $9000 to install a new one. I found a 40K motor in a salvage yard for $2200. It was clean on the outside and the oil looked good. A mechanic swapped it for me for $800 and we were back on the road.
