My '98 toyota tacoma hesitates, stutters, and vibrates when driven cold.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Driven cold before with no problems. Problem started after driving on 100 miles of muddy roads. Also just filled tank with cosco gas; very foggy this morning (condensation problem?) Basically, what could cause this truck to hesitate and physically vibrate in low rpm's when driven cold.

do u have a k&n filter on it if so remove it. also any check engine light after this started or not. The reason i say no to k&n is the oil form these filters gums up the air intake sensor with oil thus allowing dirt and crap that gets through the filter very fine dust to collect on it this causes improper reading and your engine gets angry more or less.
what octane did you use? did you go through any high water crossings while mudding? if you have a k&n that was over saturated with oil it would cause a problem but a k&n oiled properly wont do that (trd air filters are made from k&n just to let you know) and would make it shutter at all times. what does it do when its at operating temp? how many miles are on it when was the last time you had a tune up chances are you have muddy water problems. your air filter might also be restricted by mud which would cause it as well.

i have the same problem however i don't have a k&n and its a 2 wheel drive. however it does have 222800 miles on it but it only shutters when it is cold
2003 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 v6 it starts good if you give the gas fast it will not speed up I have to give it gas slow then it will take it and when it cold it's worst I changed the ma's. Air flow Sen.
