If it starts out cold , reaches operating temp. and stays there it should be O.K.
Purge air out of the system. Maybe you have an air pocket but half way on the gauge is nothing to worry about but keep an eye on it.
just had a new radiator installed and my tempature guage is not as it was before. Its half way up .is that normal
