Recently got a 2002 Toyota Tacoma dbl cab v6 4x4; noticed that it has a high pitch noise when its warmed up...I hear it when I come to a stop..Any ideas what I might need to check out?... Thanks..
may be the timing belt

does it go away when going into a turn and come back when exiting the same turn?
Steady bearing (also called hanger bearing, or drive shaft support)? If it's worse when you let off the gas, that's probably it.

it could be that if kj157 had a 2 piece rear driveshaft. it could also be a wheelbearing.
Alright then, assuming it's like all other 2001 Extended Cab V6 Tacoma's and has a 2 piece rear drive shaft.

calm down, ive seen fullsize pickups with 8 foot beds that had one rear driveshaft. we dont know exactly what kind that person has until he/she looks under the truck. if it does have a center bearing then they could just temparally put it in 4wheel and get the rear shaft rebuilt.
Agree that it MAY be the "Carrier" Bearing on the 2 piece rear driveshaft but, could be MANY things!! On my old 1997 Tacomacw/5 speed trans. The high pitched whine turned out to be the Pilot Bearing in transmission! Wheel Bearing will whine, Water Pump will, Driveshaft will, especially w/Carrier Bearing support. Agree to run it in 4 high and replace Carrier ASAP!!
