I would use a trailer to keep the drive wheels from turning. You could also take out the drive shaft.

One option, although expensive, would be to put lockout hubs on rear axle.

I want to load up on slate in the national forest (with permit) and can take out 1000 pounds...would that be too much for the truck or would I be better off taking to 500lb trips?
