Occasionally wont start

Occasionally my trucj wont turn over wgen starting. Plenty if power. Not sure if
it is the starter or ignition switch? could it ge a fuse? How do i troubleshoot?

ok is it a manual trans. if it is there is a clutch switch that might be causing the problem. it is hard to fix if it is happening some times and not others. there is a wire on the starter a little one this is the wire from the ign and when you turn the key it should have power when the truck is not starting a simple test by light tester can tell you if it is getting power out not. if not then the problem is in the ign system and if it has power and the starter is not turning over then the starter is bad. the typos are fine I do them alot lol
It's an automatic. So test light at the point where the ignition wire meets the starter? If hot then starter is going out? Would the starter be hit and miss or would it just quit? Cost difference is about $50 between the two fixes.
