why wont my truck start after long crank no start

truck over heated thought thernistat might be bad changed it and it ranfine for
about ten mins then while driving it died after jerking and tring to start battery
totally dead no power replaced battery and MAS it tries to start after turning
over for awhile it will fire up once then die

Is there white goop under the oil fill cap ? Is the exhaust white ? Is the head gasket blown ?

Check for spark. Ignition coils and ignition control modules don't like to be overheated and can burn out pretty quickly! Hope that helps! Jim
