Pushing the accelerator all the way down, or "wide open throttle" (WOT) clears a flooded fuel injected engine. Most GM manuals state that even if jump starting fails to start an engine (due to possible flooded engine) try holding down accelerator pedal for 2 seconds and cranking, and if that fails hold pedal down for an additional 2 seconds while cranking (wait 15 seconds in between to let starter motor cool down). The reason for an engine to flood may be due to one or more intake sensors not working like IAT or MAP, or you may have leaky injectors or so on. The fact your engine blows black smoke after starting does indicate it's flooding.
