Auto 4 wheel light on when starting

Asked by wildride271 Mar 09, 2021 at 03:02 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Everytime I start my truck the auto 4 wheel drive light is on
instead of the 2 wheel drive. I replaced the 4 wheel drive
selector switch. That seemed to fix the problem. Now it is
doing same thing. What could it be?

Scan for trouble codes . That's always the first step in my books. Then go through the electrical system. Make sure battery connections and grounds are clean and tight. Carefully open up, clean , tighten and reconnect all electrical connections in the wiring harness. As modern electrical systems age all these connection points start to deteriorate. They are extremely sensitive and even tiny deficiencies can cause communication errors and erroneous signals to be sent.
